No, we have not found Snipe #2, but our fleet has the second boat. Katawampus, a 1963 wooden Snipe # 12521 has joined the feet. Katawampus was build in Newport Beach by a German boat builder and is a measured Snipe. After a bit of maintenance work Katawampus will be ready for re-launch.

Two boats, three is a fleet, who gets us over the mark??????

I got some conversational news for measuring older boats, it looks like boats build to older rules could still be measured to these rules and certified as class boats, let me know if interested in a boat which needs measurement and I can inquire further.
I believe the two wooden boats I featured in the last newsletter are still available.

Rescue

The 1948 Snipe is in danger of being cut up and needs rescue fairly soon. I haven’t seen the boat in person, but from my correspondence with the owner I learned that the deck has been redone, the hull needs to be stripped of old fiberglass and refinishing, the spars need varnish and new sails are needed. There are parts and apparently decent sails available from a boat in San Luis Obisbo for $150.

Please let us not let this boat get wasted, lets turn it into an opportunity.

The hull is very solid and the rig simple and basic, yet functional. She has been cleaned up and reconditioned in a modest fashion and is a fine casual little ship, especially for Mission Bay waters.
